Two States, Two Forests, Two Issues! |

Initially, we were completely committed to planting trees as we thought that this was the only way to combat deforestation. We soon found out just how wrong we were! The state of Colorado is facing deforestation because of the pine beetle (see the mountain pine beetle page for more information). The trees are dying and need to be replaced. The state of Arizona faces almost the exact opposite problem. Here, the forests are overrun with undergrowth which is affecting soil quality and causing trees to become unhealthy. The small saplings and undergrowth needs to be removed. |
